Obituary of James Martin Weber
James "Jim" Martin Weber passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on August 15, 2023. He was born July 25, 1962 and grew up in Lake Elmo. Jim graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 1980 and that year he started Jim Weber General Contracting, which thrived under his leadership.
Jim met Lauren (née Gambino) in 1983 and they married on May 9, 1987 in Rockford, IL. He was a proud father and grandfather and his family meant the world to him. Jim was able to watch his children as they made their way into adulthood and started families of their own.
Jim had a brilliant mind and enjoyed fixing equipment and inventing new solutions to a problem. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time with family and friends. Jim cherished vacations with family and friends, which included trips to the Black Hills and further west to multiple national parks. When their children were still young, Jim and Lauren built a cabin in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin that served as a special getaway for entertaining family and friends. Jim loved spending time on the lake, especially on the Tiki Pontoon that he built with his family.
Jim was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2009. He was known for his positive attitude in fighting and learning to live with the disease. “Attitude is Everything,” was Jim’s daily motto and those that knew him were inspired by his outlook on life. Jim was often seen all over Stillwater in his motorized wheelchair visiting family, friends, and business owners. His wife, Lauren, was his sole caregiver for 14 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Kathleen Weber and sister Christine "Chris" Weber. Jim is survived by his wife Lauren Weber and his children Danielle (Adam) Meyer, Jay Weber, Paul Weber, and Franchesca (Alex) Lauer. He is further survived by his three grandchildren, Luca & Kate Meyer and Noah Weber, as well as his siblings Steven (Laura) Weber and Caroline "Cari" O’Kore, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in Jim’s honor on Friday, October 6, 2023, 4:00pm to 7:00pm at P D Pappy’s in Stillwater, MN. The family invites you to join them in celebrating Jim and to share your memories! Jim donated his brain to ALS research in the hopes of helping others in the future.
