Obituary of Kathleen Mary Johnsen

Kathleen Mary (Gallagan) Johnsen died much too soon and far too young, with her Daughter by her side. Kathy’s mighty heart beat for the last time in the early morning hours of July 8^th, 2023, in the ICU of United Hospital in St Paul, Minnesota. She was 68 years old.

Kathy was born on January 25^th, 1955, in St Paul, Minnesota. She was the second child of seven. Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Everyone will remember her spirit for life, generosity of heart, great sense of humor, her love for tennis and her devotion to the Minnesota Vikings.

Kathy is survived in death by her two children: Dawn Marie (Thomas) Degnan, of Rhode Island, and Jason Michael, of Arizona. Kathy had a special bond with her Grandson, Greyson Barrett “The King”, son of Dawn and her ex-wife, Marissa (Meredith) Cerrone. Gramma K and The King shared a love for NYC & The Lady, popcorn, ice cream, Bayley, Callie and so much more. Gramma K adored and was loved by all her Littles: Ava, Stella, Griffin, Charlie, Caroline, Cameron, Madison, Kenzie, Declan, Lincoln, Santiago, Bernie, Ronin, Aidan, Genevieve, Mia, Maddi, Andrew, Gavin, Angelica, Tyler and Emma. She is also survived by Her Siblings; Patty (John) Dee, Mary (Gene) Kramer, Dan (Deanna) Gallagan, Mike (Debi, dec. 2021) Gallagan, Judy Gallagan and John (Chrissy) Gallagan; Her Nieces and Nephews: Brian (Trish), Goddaughter Colleen (Joey), Dylan, Megan (Shannon), Jamie (Kristi), Ryan (Bridget), Danny (Claire), Steven (Amy), Haley, Jack and Goddaughter Melanie (Eric), Chris (Kelly), Tracy, Robyn (Ron), Dan (Jill), Steve (Delaney), Andrea (Jonas), Ryan (Colleen).

Kathy never met a stranger, and made friends wherever she went, whom she carried in her heart always; “PIZ” Estelle, Eric, Mohamad, Marion & Ryan, The Slocum Crew: Jaclyn (Chris), Jay & Kerri, Dinah, Zoe and Harlyn. Kathy was loved by so many other family and friends, including the Haukeness Family of Strum, WI. Kathy is preceded in death by Her Mother and Father, Genevieve and Bernard Gallagan, her cousins Glenn Jr. and Steve Haukeness and her Nephew, Brent Johnsen.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 20th from 2:00-6:00 pm at Patrick McGovern’s, 225 7^th St W, St Paul, MN 55102. Refreshments will be provided.
