Obituary of Clifford Robert Tchida
Clifford Robert Tchida was born in in Lake City, South Dakota on May 31, 1932 and left this earth to meet his savior on August 2, 2023. Clifford was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Tchida, Mother Viola (Barr) Tchida, daughter Mary Elizabeth Tchida (1957-1957), Stephanie Ann Tchida (1958-1958). Clifford is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Mary Darlene (Verheijen) Tchida and his children: Stephanie Marie Semler (David), Scott Tchida, Dana Tchida (Kari) and Andrea Tchida. He will be missed greatly by his grandchildren: Jessica Semler (Terry, Owen, and Mark David), Eric Semler (Ray), Anna Yeaton (Mike and Ava), Garrett Tchida (Beverly, David and Kayleigh), Megan Tchida (Cameron, Diezl and Freya), Sam Visina, Zach Visina, Risa Visina Bache-Wiig (Peter), Mardy Sue Visina ( Chris, Owen and Madi Rose) and Cassie Visina Voltzke ( Bill, Matt, and Mia). He is also survived by his siblings: Norm Tchida (Lois), Babe McLaird (Virgil), and Merv Tchida (Cleo) and sister in law Pat Lowinski.
Clifford was born into a farming family in Lake City, South Dakota. He served in the Army as a Corporal during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was based in Nova Scotia with WARF while they were building landing strips. He married the girl next door in 1955 and went off to South Dakota State University for 4 years earning a degree in printing and plant management. In 1960, Cliff and Mary moved to Duluth Minnesota where he started his career and his family. He was employed as a pressman by Davidson Printing and retired in 1994 after 34 years of service. The most important commitment for Cliff was to be the provider for his family and also the love he shared for all the little ones. He will be sadly missed by his retiree Perkins coffee group, his Keystone Bluff friends and Mary’s music friends. Rest in peace, Cliff. We love you.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation at 9:30 a.m. at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN.
