Obituary of Molly June Ayers
Molly June Ayers, 89, of Plymouth, MN passed away on July 30, 2023.
Molly was born on June 19th, 1934 to Kenneth and Alice Borgen in Crosby, North Dakota. After Molly graduated from high school in 1952, she lived in California, Rochester Minnesota and then moved to Minneapolis, she went on to work as a waitress at such iconic Twin Cities restaurants as the Ambassador Hotel and the Chalet. Molly also enjoyed working many years at the Minneapolis Auto Auction, where she always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met.
Molly met James Ayers at the Chalet, where Molly served him lunch with a wink and smile. Molly and Jim raised five children together; Ellen, Karrye, Diane, Kathy and James Jr.
Molly was the matriarch and backbone of her large and extended family. Family was Molly’s first priority and the center of her life. She raised not only her own children, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they called her Foxy Grandma. She was a “second mom” to many of her children’s schoolmates, as well as the children of her many friends. Molly and Jim hosted the very best get-togethers and parties. Especially Christmas, which involved a mountain of presents, a huge tree, too many friends and relatives to count and her best friend Shirley, as Santa.
Many remember Molly in her Cadillac and Jim on his tractor. They loved each other fiercely and had a life of big adventures and bigger laughs, raising a family they put above anything else. Jim would often say that “Molly feeds the multitudes” as she loved to cook and feed anyone who came through her door. Molly was always the life of the party and loved being on the go. She was happiest driving her car to go shopping, meeting friends for a drink or chauffeuring those in need. She was kind, funny, caring and selfless to a fault.
Molly was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Alice, step-mother, Verona Borgan, brother Lowel Borgan, sisters Caryll Olson (brother-in-law Lee Olson), Doreen Nerison, Shirley Kellar, son Kenneth Twombly, grandson George Fiihr, and lifelong friend Shirley Nelson.
She is survived by daughters Ellen Wolff (Gerry Charnitz), Karrye Fiihr (Darrel), Diane Ayers Miller (Brad) and Kathy Twombly; son, James B. Ayers Jr. (Marlana); grandchildren, Jeremy Wolff (Dana), Jeff Lipinski (Kari), Katrina Fiihr-Gaulke (Tim), Darell Twombly, Badria Alromi, Matt Miller, Tonya Miller, and many great and great, great grandchildren, as well as numerous beloved relatives and family friends.
We would like to thank the people at Benedictine, Osseo who helped Molly live her last months with dignity. We would also like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at North Memorial, Robbinsdale, Emergency Room, 3 West and 6 West for their gentle and expert medical care.
