Obituary of Jeanine Yvonne Wedekind
Jeanine Yvonne Wedekind (nee Dorsey) Passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Clara Dorsey and infant brother Eudene. She is survived by her loving husband Albert, sister Erma Whitcomb, brothers Chuck (Sylvia) Dorsey and Lyle (Joni) Dorsey, sons Tim (Barb) Wedekind and Scott Wedekind, grandchildren Becky (Jon) Hanson and Todd (Anna) Wedekind, and great-grandchildren Tristan, Gabriel, and Isaac Hanson, Inga and Soren Wedekind, and many nieces and nephews. Jeanine was born on February 13, 1931, in Newman Grove, Nebraska, where she met fellow classmate Albert D. Wedekind at age 13. After graduating high school in 1948, they were united in marriage in December 1951. They started farming near their hometown. Son Tim was born in early 1953, and Al was drafted into the army in August 1953. Jeanine then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, with her son, and lived with her parents until Al returned from Germany in 1955. Son Scott was born in 1960. The family moved to S. St. Paul and then W. St. Paul, MN. After being employed as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk until 1972, Jeanine joined an orthodontia practice to be receptionist and bookkeeper. She worked there until 1985, when she and Al moved to Austin, TX. They also lived in Crosslake, MN; Punta Gorda, FL; Vadnais Heights, MN; and White Bear Lake, MN. New friendships were formed all along the way. Jeanine had a gift for hospitality and loved to cook, bake cookies, and entertain. She sewed many cross-stitch and Hardanger projects, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She also loved doing things for others. She served actively in church--singing in choir, and planning and participating in events. Jeanine loved life, laughter, and family and friends. Memorial service: Tues, Aug 15 at 11:00am (visitation 10:00am) at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1400 S. Robert St., W. St. Paul, MN. 55118. Memorials preferred to Augustana Lutheran Church Music Department. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
