Obituary of Dorene A. Theis

Dorene Alice Theis, age 77, of Savage, MN, passed away on July 21, 2023. She was loved and adored by her family.

Survived by her significant other of more than 30 years, Ronald Westeren; stepchildren, Carrie Uttecht (Daniel), Adam Westeren (Tori); brothers, Gary Theis (Carol) and Greg Theis; nieces, Debbie Scherber and Michelle Theis. Preceded in death by her parents Leo and Doris Theis.

Dorene was born on July 8, 1946 to parents Leo and Doris. She grew up in Wilmar, MN with her brothers Greg and Gary. She worked at John Deere Company for 30 years.

Dorene had many passions in life. She was a loving Grandma to Maleri, Emma, Destiny, Kai, Ginny, and Ophelia. A lifelong animal lover, Dorene especially loved her many Shelties. Following the Minnesota Twins was a great joy for her; she never missed a game, watching them play baseball on TV or seeing them play in person at the Twins Field in Minneapolis. Music was a major passion for Dorene. One of her favorite musicians was Bob Dylan. The last few years, she was passionate about the band Queen and Freddie Mercury.  Dorene also loved to go on traveling adventures with Ron. Some of her favorite trips were Hawaii, Bahamas, Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, San Fransico, and The Balsams Resort in New Hampshire.

A Memorial Service will be held:

Following the Memorial Service, please join us at Dorene’s and Ron’s home to celebrate Dorene’s life. Light refreshments and hors d'oeuvre will be served. To celebrate her passions, we encourage you to bring a shirt to change into representing the Twins, Queen/Freddie Mercury, or Bob Dylan.
