Obituary of Jeraldine Busse
Jeraldine Hope Swedberg Busse
Jeri
September 29, 1930 – January 23, 2023
Jeraldine (Jeri) Hope Swedberg Busse, 92, died peacefully on January 23, 2023, in Cold Spring, Minnesota after a brief illness.
Jeri was born on September 29, 1930, in Storden, Minnesota. She was the daughter of the Reverend Oscar Frederick Swedberg and Mrs. Gertrude Sophia Lindstrom Swedberg. She had an older brother, Dudley Swedberg, and a twin brother, Judson Swedberg.
Jeri and her family lived in various places while she was growing up: Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Door County, Wisconsin. After Jeri’s father died when she was 11, her mother moved the family back to Minneapolis. Jeri attended Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, and it is there that she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Busse. Married on December 30, 1950, they were married for almost 69 years when Bill died in November of 2019.
Jeri and Bill raised three children, Jill, Brad, and Amy. They lived in Minnesota, Nebraska, and Michigan in the first years of their marriage, but moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1966 and lived there for 26 years. In Nashville, Jeri worked for over 20 years for Dr. Robert Tosh. She was beloved by patients and her co-workers alike, and Dr. Tosh considered her to be his right hand person.
After Jeri and Bill retired, they returned to Minnesota to be near their extended family. For the last few months of her life, she lived near her son, Brad Busse, in Cold Spring.
Jeri was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to be silly and laugh, and she passed that love onto her children and grandchildren. She also loved to read, play Scrabble and many other games, work jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She was a wonderful baker, and she loved pink roses!
Jeri was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her twin brother, Judson, and her parents. She is survived by her children, Jill Busse (Nikos Markoutis), Brad Busse, Amy Busse Stoker (Brent), her six grandchildren, Ben Markoutis, Jordan Parker, Kelly Busse, William Markoutis, Phoebe Perkins, and Zach Perkins, her four great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Bobby, Noah, and Evan, and many family and friends.
Jeri will be interred with her husband, Bill, in a brief service of interment at Ft. Snelling in St. Paul, Minnesota on Friday, August 18th at 10:00 am. Following the service, there will be a reception and a time to remember Jeri at her former residence, Carmen Court, 5825 Carmen Avenue East in Inver Grove Heights.
