Obituary of Thomas J. Toner
Thomas J. Toner of Lakeville, MN died July 6th at the age of 84. He was born in Camden, NJ on Dec. 6th, 1938.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mabel (Knox) of New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Ann (Lisiecki), son Todd and wife Sophie, son Glenn and wife Donna, Granddaughters; Megan, Katelyn, Loulou, and Caroline and sisters Rosemary, Patricia, and Peggy also of New Jersey.
He joined the US Airforce at 18 and met his wife Mary Ann while stationed in Duluth. He graduated from Duluth Business School and attended UMD. After leaving the Air Force he was a founding partner of Duluth Scientific. A company at the forefront of the computer memory industry. He went on to a successful Sales Management career with Bombardier (Ski-Doo, Seadoo) and was instrumental in the early development and marketing of the Seadoo in the late 60's and early 70's. After which he worked in sales and management roles for Caterpillar and Despatch Industries in Lakeville. His final role was having his own Rep Agency until he retired.
He was an avid outdoorsman especially while he lived in Duluth. He loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. He also loved doing DIY home-improvement projects with his sons.
He was a super husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Salvation Army.
A celebration of life will take place on Aug 20th from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Cremation Society Edina Chapel 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, MN 55435
