Obituary of Mildred Minnie-Annie (Schultz) Borchardt
On June 7th 2023, Mildred "Millie" Minnie-Annie (Schultz) Borchardt of Prior Lake, peacefully passed away at All Saints Senior Living in Shakopee, MN. She was eight days shy of being 96 yrs old. Millie was born June 15th, 1927 in Belle Plaine, MN to Anton & Lillian Schultz. She was the oldest of three siblings who grew up in Belle Plaine. Millie and her husband Norman were united in marriage on October 2nd, 1948. She & her Best Friend Sally went to a dance where they met brothers who they later married. Norman & Millie built a house and life in Prior Lake. They were married for 61 years and had two children; Gary Borchardt and Lynn (Stephen) Cassem.
Millie had a full and active life. She worked at Control Data/Seagate for more than 28 years before retiring in 2003. She loved fishing for sunfish off the dock and salmon fishing in Lake Michigan. Norman & Millie were very active at the VFW post 6208. She was part of the auxiliary helping with steak fries, funerals, and much more. Millie enjoyed their cabin, camping, and coupon clipping for great savings at the grocery store which she shared with her family. Millie loved her family; she shared her thoughts about you and felt fortunate that everyone lived within 2 hours of her. Having grown up during the depression, she prided herself on nothing going to waste.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman; son, Gary Borchardt; Son-in-law, Stephen Cassem; Grandson, Dan Borchardt; her brother, Lloyd Schultz; & sister, Irma Siemon; and numerous brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Lynn, and 6 grandchildren; Guy Borchardt, Adena Johnson, Courtney Cassem, Jerad Borchardt, Shawna (Tyler) Culver, and Blake Cassem. Also 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law & sister-in-law, plus many nephews & nieces. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
