Obituary of Eileen M Murphy

Murphy, Eileen M. Born September 30th, 1926, she passed peacefully in Maplewood on April 24th, 2023. She was born in Bemis, South Dakota, to Mark and Marie O’Connor. She was  the second oldest of six children. From Bemis, South Dakota, her family moved around quite a bit from South St. Paul, to Rosemont to St. Paul.  At the age of 18  she married Clarence G. Murphy, where they purchased their first home on Ivy Street.  They moved to Maplewood in December of 1973.  She became a widow in 1988 and retired from 3M in September 1988.  A few years later, she moved to Talmoon, Minnesota on Jesse lake. A home she really loved and was proud of. But  her favorite home was in Holiday, Florida. She loved Florida with her whole heart. It is where she and her loving, longtime companion, Dick Jacobs shared many wonderful years of their life together.  After Dick’s passing,  Eileen stayed in her home and her son Paul Murphy joined her and cared for her.  A few more years of living in the place, she loved the most,  we brought her back to Minnesota to guide her through some health issues and have her closer to her family.  As the years went on, her health would decline a little bit more each year, but not without strong, determination, inspiration, and amazement. She would always bounce back. It wasn’t until early 2023 her fight for life and determination was fading. She had excellent care at the Good Samaritan in Maplewood, Minnesota by a staff that enjoyed and loved her dearly.  In April 2023 it became a battle between her loving heart and her declining kidneys. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Clarence Murphy, her son, David Murphy, and her two baby girls. Her longtime, loving companion and friend, Dick Jacobs.  Her parents, Mark and Marie O’Connor, and four of her siblings.  She leaves behind sons James Murphy (Sharri), Paul Murphy (Jane), and daughters, Yvonne Elkins, (Eric Josti),  Michele LaHood, (Joseph).  13 grandchildren, and 17 adoring great grandchildren.  Her sister, Maureen  Kaiser.

She was always a classy lady, who loved BINGO! She was an excellent cook, She was filled with love and kindness, and a memory that never failed her.  Best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend,  companion.  She will be so very missed.  Rest in peace mama.  We will miss you forever. Your memories will always be with us. A special Thank you to the staff at Good Samaritan for your wonderful care.
