Obituary of Patrick John Glynn
Patrick John Glynn, 36, of Shoreview, Minnesota, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023, surrounded by his immediate family. Patrick fought his cancer with strength and determination because he had so much to look forward to.
Patrick was born November 25, 1986 at Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minnesota to the parents of Debora Glynn (Schutz), and John Glynn of Columbia Heights.
At a very young age Patrick’s dad won an Atari 2600. Playing the Atari turned into the start of Patrick’s life-long passion for video games. He not only loved playing them, he needed to figure out how they work. This curiosity led him to successful career in video games as a game programmer and computer builder. He created coding for a PC video game that remains a very popular seller today. While at the hospital he created his last homage to video games, a working gaming computer constructed on a bamboo cutting board with a arcade style controller. He created it so he or anyone could play arcade style video games from your lap while in bed.
Patrick had a charming smile, a giving heart, and incredibly caring for those he loved. Some of the frequent comments shared by the nurses were how kind and appreciative Patrick was as a patient.
Preceded in death by his Grandparents Deloris and George Schutz; Grandparents Marjorie and Leo Glynn; Aunt Jillaine Erickson (Schutz).
Patrick is survived by his parents John and Debbie Glynn; his sister Gina Glynn; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
