Obituary of Pamela Kay Korabek
Pamela “Pam” Kay (Tollefson) Korabek
Pamela Kay (Tollefson) Korabek went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 2, 2022, after a short battle with metastatic lung cancer. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in Eagan, Minnesota, at age 74.
She was born in Starbuck, Minnesota on March 15, 1948, to George and Norma Tollefson. Pam loved growing up in that small town where her father was a barber. She shared memories of riding bikes to get five cent ice cream cones, dancing, singing, ice skating and swimming. She was confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church in 1964 and graduated in 1966 from Starbuck High School, and her yearbook motto was: When pleasure and duty clash, let duty go to smash.
After high school she moved to Minneapolis and married John Korabek. John and Pam had two sons, Tim and Mike. She loved being a mother and doting on her boys. They spent countless hours at the family cabin. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends. John and her later divorced but remained close friends. She worked at Northwest Airlines, then retired from Delta. She had an amazing green thumb and loved to take care of her plants and yard, just as her dad did. Pansies were her favorite, but flowers of any kind brought her joy. She was kindhearted, had a great sense of humor and always had a twinkle in her eye. She volunteered for the Minnesota Superbowl and took a class with the Eagan Police Department. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even learning to FaceTime them. She loved life and was loved by so very many people.
She is survived by her sons, Tim (Rose) of Rochester, Minnesota and Mike (Erica) of Clermont, Florida. She has three grandchildren: Jessica (Jonas) Markofski of Houston, Minnesota; Christopher (Savannah) Korabek of Rochester, Minnesota; and Caleb Korabek of Houston, Texas. She has three great-grandchildren (Uriah, Allison and Benaiah) with one on the way in August, all Jessica and Jonas’ children; and one grand-cat, Missy (Mike and Erica). She is also survived by her brother, David, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death were her parents George and Norma Tollfeson of Starbuck, Minnesota; sister Bonita (Bonnie) Ray of Kent, Washington, and sister-in-law Anne Tollefson of New Hope, Minnesota.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 3930 Rahn Rd., Eagan, Minnesota, on June 10, 2023 at 11 AM. A luncheon will follow. Any memorial gifts may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the CaringBridge website.
The family would like to thank all of Pam’s nurses and doctors and hospice staff for making her final days on this earth as good, comfortable, and caring as possible. 1 John 4:19: We love because he first loved us.
