Obituary of Michael Macrae Anderson

Anderson, Michael Macrae, age 59, Wayzata, died in hospice May 10, 2023 surrounded by family.

Mike was born Feb. 10, 1964 to Marshall Anderson and Mary Patterson in Park Ridge, Ill. Born with a brain tumor, Mike lived a full life despite his disabilities.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, walking in sunshine, and participating in church. Mike delighted in music, stuffed animals, going out to eat, riding in the front seat, watching sports, being read to, bowling, sailing, and swimming. He took pride in his Special Olympics medals, his jobs in the community, playing the harmonica, and in the paintings he created. His humor, one-liners and smile brought joy to all who knew him.

At 23, Mike moved from his family home to Hammer Residences, where he loved his routines, housemates and caring staff.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Patterson, his father and stepmother, Marshall and Dru Anderson, sisters, Susy (Andy) Rein and Katie (Rich) Barrett, nieces and nephews, Jenna (Kit) Zipf, Brady (Hannah) Rein, Kallie and Calvin Barrett, and great-nephews Willson and Ro.
