Rita Ascher

Obituary of Rita Ascher

Rita (Laumeyer) Ascher

Age 87 of Brooklyn Center, was born on April 9, 1936, on a family farm in Long Prairie, MN.

She was an only daughter in a family of five boys. She married the love of her life on 9/13/1958.

On May 3, 2023, we lost our precious Mom, Grandma, Aunt, and Friend.

In April she was diagnosed with cancer, and immediately made the choice to return to her home for her final days under the compassionate and loving care of her daughters, sons, and healthcare professionals.

Mom brought great joy to others.

Rita was recognized for her long term contributions to St Alphonsus Catholic Church, her Brooklyn Center community, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 630.

For 40 years she brought holiday cheer and joy to every face that saw her as Mrs. Claus, and countless smiles and giggles as Mother Nature.

Her years of volunteering included: CEAP, the Eucharistic Ministry for St Alphonsus Catholic Church, and the Council of Catholic Women, which awarded her with their ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award. She was a recipient of the Brooklyn Center Women’s Club ‘Random Act Of Kindness’ award.

She was an amazing seamstress, leaving no thread behind. She recycled greeting cards.

She was always willing to give. Her sense of humor and her loving actions were a great example of Christianity in action.

Preceded in death by husband, Gene. Survived by children Deb (Marc), Rick (Annie), Dallas, and Donna (Rick). Grandchildren Nicholas (Julie), Colin (Courtney), Chloe (Jon), Christian (Mallory), Levi, Geneva, Kyle and Braden (Morgen). Great grandchild Dominik.
