Obituary of Kenneth Duane Gjerde Sr.

Kenneth Duane Gjerde Age 89, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Ken is proceeded in death by his Wife, Genevieve Ann Gjerde, Son, Steven Gjerde, Parents (Knute Gjerde and Bertine Gjerde) and Great Granddaughter Maddie Grant. Ken is survived by his children, Parris (Mary), Kenneth Jr. (Cathy), Mark, Angela Marie Grimm (Joseph) and 31 Grand and Great Grandchildren.

Ken served in the Navel Airforce from 1952 to 1955 as a Naval Airman. After being Honorably discharged Ken started his career with the City of Minneapolis in which he held numerous positions, ending his 30+ year career with the City in 1986 as the Superintendent of the Minneapolis Street Department.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at Church of the Holy Name, 3637 11th Ave So., Mpls. Visitation will start at 10am followed by funeral services at 11am. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17 at 11:30 AM
