Obituary of Ann Marie Garavalia

Ann Marie Garavalia, age 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 20, 2023. Ann was born on October 14, 1942, in Richmond, California, but lived most of her life in St. Paul, Minnesota. She worked as a legal secretary before retiring and following her passion of helping animals. Ann volunteered for animal rescue organizations and fostered many cats while helping them find new homes. Later, she owned a pet-sitting business while also caring for stray cats and dogs.

Preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Esther (Kern) Garavalia; sisters, Shirley Marcotte, Mary Lou Larson, Patricia Carey and Catherine Jansen. Survived by daughter, Angela (Jon) Marquette; granddaughters, Alyssa (Albert) Lee and Jenna Marquette; brothers, Lawrence (Catherine) Parker and Randy (Lynn) Garavalia.

A private Mass of Christian Burial for immediate family will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 105 Forestview Lane North, Plymouth, MN, 55441. Visitation at 9:30am, Mass at 10:30am, followed by interment at Groveland Cemetery, 3300 Woodlawn Avenue, Wayzata, MN 55391.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local animal shelter.
