Obituary of Mary Margaret Grover

Mary Margaret Grover, age 82, of Cottage Grove, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023. Mary died peacefully surrounded by her family. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Cottage Grove, MN. A visitation will be held at the church, one hour prior to the service. She will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in her hometown of Cleveland, MN.

Mary was born on June 19th, 1940, to Francis Ann (Nicholson) and John Ward Kluntz. She grew up on a farm on Lake Jefferson in Cleveland, MN and is the 2nd of 12 children. She graduated from Mankato State University, with a degree in Elementary Education. Mary taught for several years in the South Washington County school district and later worked for the Minnesota Private College Council.

She married Curt Grover of Waterville, MN on June 20th, 1964. As a child, Curt fished off the shore of her family farm with his father. Little did either of them know they would meet and marry many years later. Curt and Mary spent most of their married life in Cottage Grove and raised two children. She enjoyed volunteering at church, spending time with her family, especially visiting her sisters. Reading was a particular passion for her, and she loved teaching children.

Mary is survived by her husband Curt, her son Paul (Angel) Grover of Brookfield, WI, and her daughter Maggie (Michael) Blanshan of Woodbury, MN. In addition to three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by seven siblings, cherished friends, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
