Obituary of Lois Penelope Fritze-Tietz
Penny died on Maundy Thursday, April 6th, surrounded by family and the Communion of Saints, at North Memorial Hospital. Penny was preceded in death by parents, Rev. William Clement Fritze, Lois Anna (Nelson) Fritze, sister Margaret Anne, brother William Clement and husband Larry Joseph Tietz; followed in death by beloved cat, Pilgrim. Survived by brother Daniel Nelson Fritze and daughters Kirsten Marie Lauver, Sarah Anne and Steve Horsfield, beloved cat, Snookie, and several grand dogs and cats.
Penny was born October 15th, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Penny attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota and later earned a Masters Degree in Theater at the University of Denver and an M.Div. at Wesley Theological Seminary. Penny served churches in West Virginia, and Crosby, Deerwood, Aitkin, Silver Bay and Blaine, Minnesota. Penny was the first female pastor at each church she served and was beloved for her wit, creativity, heart for people and justice in the communities she lived and loved.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 22nd at 1pm at Community United Methodist Church in Monticello, MN.
