Obituary of Ellen May Niblo
Ellen May Niblo, 77, passed away Sunday, March 19th with her children by her side. Ellen was born February 22, 1946, in LaCrosse, WI to Ingvald & Eva Moan and was one of 13 children. Ellen graduated from Madison Area Technical College in Madison, WI with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and went on to have a lifelong career in sales until retiring in 2010. She called Apple Valley, MN home until 2017 when she moved to Oak Park Senior Living in Oak Park Heights, MN.
Ellen was very independent and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, friends and family. Many knew Ellen because of her love for creating amazingly beautiful birthday and wedding cakes. If you asked, she would make it for you even if it was a rainbow-unicorn-prince charming cake. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, she carried the family tradition of making lefse and passed that down to her grandkids. She loved to sing, dance and play the piano and was known to hold a Queens card game on occasion with anyone she could teach to play. Going to the casino and all around having a good time with her friends and family were some of her favorite pastimes.
Ellen is survived by her children Dan Niblo (wife, Jennifer), Nyla Niblo (husband, Robert Fowler); grandchildren Duncan Niblo, Gabby Niblo, Ruby Fowler, Holly Gressman (husband, Josh), Nick Peterson (wife, Summer); siblings Sara Dutra, Jim Moan (Wife, Nyla Moan), Fred Moan (wife, Carolyn Moan); life-long best friend Sharyn Jordan and many, many, nieces and nephews.
Thank you to all the nurses, aids and staff at Oak Park Senior Living Memory Care for taking such good care of our mom.
Please join the family for A Celebration of Life planned for Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in Baraboo, WI at Ochsner Park, 903 Park Street, Baraboo, WI 53913. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association so that others might someday live in a world rid of this disease.
Until we meet again, you will live on in our hearts.
