Obituary of Bethanne Marie Scully
Bethanne Marie Scully, 62, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023, attended by her husband and caregivers at North Ridge Care Center. Bethanne ended her decades-long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis due to complications with COVID.
We are thankful that her suffering has ended and will now turn to celebrate her life and all the joy that she brought to those she loved.
Bethanne was born November 2, 1960, in Minneapolis. She was raised in New Hope and a 1978 graduate of Armstrong High School in Plymouth. She graduated with a degree in English from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, where she met her future husband, Michael Scully. Bethanne and Michael were married in January 1984 and recently celebrated their 39th anniversary together.
Bethanne loved her work more than anything outside of friends and family. She worked as a freelance writer for organizations such as Medtronic, United Health, and North Memorial, winning a national award for her health care advertising work. She laughed easily, was an expert pie maker, and a prankster to all of her close friends and family.
Special appreciation is given to all of those who helped care for her in so many ways over the years. From the help she needed prior to her official diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2001, through the many years of family and in-home caregivers, to her final days with the loving care she received at North Ridge. So many amazing people blessed her with their love and care.
Bethanne is preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and Richard Olson of Plymouth. She is survived by her husband, Michael Scully, her son, Stephen Scully, her brother, Rick Olson, her nephews and niece, and many extended family members and lifelong friends.
A visitation at 11:00 AM and a celebration of life at 12:00 PM will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Edina Chapel, 7110 France Avenue South, Edina, MN 55435. Donations in her honor or memory may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
