Obituary of Robert Craig Homstad
Robert Craig Homstad, age 67 of Mpls, passed away at home on March 14, 2023. He was born May 25, 1955 to parents Rodney and Olive and lived his full life in Mpls near family and close friends. He was a 1973 Roosevelt High School graduate and retired after an admirable career of 32 years with the United States Post Office.
A true Minnesotan and outdoorsman, “Dagwood” (nickname) enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with his closest friends. His season of life and deepest joy was spending lazy summer days at the Lone Lake cabin; boating, preparing and enjoying good meals with his best buddies while deeply appreciating nature’s beauty and gifts. He enjoyed photography as a hobby and this serene setting very much pleased him. As a good steward to the environment, Bob wanted to do his part to prevent fish overpopulation by catching and sharing his quota. He loved a good catch and we enjoyed the good eating!
As a loving son, he looked after his mother until his last day. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved brother Stephen and father Rodney. Survived by loving mother Olive; siblings Linda Kusel (Bob); Tom (Kelly); sister-in-law Terri Johnson (Bruce). Nieces and nephews include Brittnie, T.J. (Amy) Kristina, Ben, Carolyn (Michael) and Jackson. He was the adored “great uncle” to Lydia, Stephen and Zaza.
Bob was deeply loved and cherished by his family and dear friends. His unexpected passing leaves an ache in so many hearts. His smile was a thing of beauty and could light up a room. His presence will be deeply missed.
All who knew Bob are most welcome to share your memories of him. These will be read and shared with reverence at his Celebration of Life service, April 10th held here in the chapel. If you are unable to attend or if it is your preference, someone will read your memory for you! Love is family and community.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Bob’s name to your favorite charity.
