Obituary of Lily Katherine Hamalainen

Lily was born in Aitkin, MN to Wilho and Liisa Laukkanen. Lily married Carl Hamalainen and moved to New Orleans in 1941. She lived there for 65 years and returned to Minnesota in 2008. She is preceded in death by husband Carl, parents Wilho and Liisa, and eight siblings. She is survived by daughters Elizabeth (Don) Tison, and daughter Katherine Hamalainen, grandchildren Liisa (Jon) Pyke, Cherlyn Flipp, Kristal (Duane) Belisle, and Dana (Donelle) Tison, and great grandchildren, Ethan Tison, Jayden Flipp Connolly, Brandt Belisle, Michaela Tison, Carter Belisle, Gracie Pyke, Davis Belisle, and Akaycia Belisle. Lily was very active in her church and was an avid card player, especially bridge. There will be a celebration of Lily's life with family and friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 2:30 P.M. at Stonecrest Senior Living Presbyterian Center 8725 Promenade Lane; Woodbury, MN 55125; 651-264-3200. There will be a private family interment in November at Rabbit Lake Cemetery in Aitkin, MN.
