Obituary of Robert Frigaard

Robert “Bob” Frigaard, 84, passed away peacefully after a brief four-month battle with MDS (bone cancer) at St. John’s Hospital on November 4th, 2016 while in the loving arms of Avis, wife of 60 years, and with his daughters and oldest grandson at his side. Bob was born in Rochester, MN, on April 15th, 1932 to Sig and Rudy Frigaard. Following 2 years at Macalester College he achieved his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. That is where he met his wife Avis. After a brief time in San Francisco, Bob and Avis returned to Minnesota and settled in Roseville where they raised their family in the loving arms of faith as dedicated members of Roseville Lutheran Church. He spent the majority of his career as an Engineering Consultant for many Minnesota municipalities. As a devoted and loving husband and father, Bob loved to travel with his wife and children. Many cherished memories were made on the family vacations. Bob and Avis continued their passion for travel and adventure, exploring many beautiful and exotic countries and cultures well into their retirement. They also shared a passion for square dancing, which they enjoyed for many years with their close friends. Bob was preceded in death by his son David who was tragically killed, January 24, 2015, and granddaughter Nikki. Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife Avis; daughters Gwenn (Brent) and Debbie (Dan); son Ron; grandchildren Shannon (Shawn), Kristin (Jason), Hannah, Danielle, Ryan, Robbie, Marie, Lauren, and Ben; great grandchildren Lainie, Sydnie, Riley, Brody, and Madison; brother Jim (Helen); and several nieces, nephews and close friends. Bob will be greatly missed, but always remembered in our hearts. Bob’s wishes were for a special private service with his close family.
