Obituary of Marianne Nikolic

Marianne Langen was born in Osnabruck Germany and as a teen she followed her passion for art to the Berlin School of Art. She saw and lived through the traumas of seeing all of the world as she knew bombed to rubble in World War II. After the war she met George Nikolic who was a prisoner of war there and they married and came to the US in 1951 with little more than their shirts on their back. Their first home in the US was in Idaho Springs CO where they had to work for their Sponsor as hotel maid and gas station attendant. After a year they qualified for citizenship and moved to Denver. George was able to get a job as a barber saved money and bought a simple house. They adopted two children, Katarina in 1959 and Gerhard in 1961. Marianne began working on her passion again, doing art shows and then opening her own art school in the basement of her house teaching 300 students on a weekly basis. In 1972 Marianne opened the Nikolic Gallery of art in Estes Park Colorado and ran that un til 1994. Estes Park being only a summer business she opened a second gallery in Scottsdale Arizona in 1975 until 1990. She semi-retired in 1994 and returned to occasionally teaching and doing shows around the country. In 2012 she moved to Minnesota to live near her son and grandchildren and enjoyed them until her passing, November 19th 2016. Survived by; Brother, Heinrich Langen; Daughter, Katarina Annette Hagy, (Robert Steven Hagy); Son, Gerhard John Nikolic, (Beth Nikolic); Grandchildren, Christopher Gerhard Nikolic, Connor John Nikolic, Elise Katherine Nikolic. Preceded in death by; father Gerhard Langen; Mother Katarina Langen, (Hilssmen) Grandchildren, Steffanni Hagy, & Branden Hagy
