Obituary of Marian Jeanette Fuglie
Marian J. (Aamoth) Fuglie, 94, passed peacefully to the lord March 7, 2023. Marian was born July 13, 1928, to Emil and Myrtle Aamoth in Twin Valley, MN, where she and her siblings helped on the farm and went to school in a one room schoolhouse. She learned to drive at 15 and loved driving her car until she was 91. She married the love of her life, Ole Fuglie in 1947. They started their family in Moorehead and moved to Babbitt before eventually moving to Columbia Heights. Marian was active in the Columbia Heights community for over 30 years, while raising her family, working at the Apache Plaza JCPenney, and volunteering with the Lion’s Club Ladies Auxiliary. She and Ole retired to Big Sandy Lake in 1981, where she quickly made strong friendships and sold pull-tabs at local hot-spots. Happy hour trips and paddle boat rides were the highlight of the week, along with beating everyone in Canasta tournaments. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed dancing, reading, crocheting, and sewing. Above all else, she enjoyed being with her family. Marian will be remembered as the mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister whose bright smile brought joy to all who knew her. She will be forever in our hearts and cherished memories. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Ole, son James Fuglie, grandson Ryan Fuglie, great-granddaughter Lillian Fuglie, and siblings Larry Aamoth, Gen Grandy, and Norma Knutson. She is survived by her brother Earl Aamoth, children Claudia Fuglie, Ray (Judy) Fuglie, Cindy (Andy) Bunch, Rick (Barb) Fuglie, Kay (Jim) Fuglie, her grandchildren Rob (Kim) Fuglie, Tami (Brian) Reisman, Cecci Fuglie, Marisa (Gary) Fuglie, Kim (Tim) Owen, Erick (Tammy) Bidwell, Rayna (Buck) Meyer, Jake Fuglie, and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorials preferred to the Columbia Heights VFW.
