Obituary of Elrena Alvina Schoening

Schoening, Elrena Alvina (Schauer), 81 of Maple Grove, passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Elrena was born to Ordwin and Elsie Schauer on September 3, 1941 in Green Isle, MN. She was married to the love of her life Ron, for 61 years. They resided in Bloomington for 35 years and raised two sons.

For the past 27 years, they have lived in Maple Grove. Elrena loved sports, especially hockey. She would not miss the Boys State HS Hockey Tourney for anything and she was a big Gopher & WILD fan.  She loved old-time music and was a great polka dancer. Elrena had an excitement for garage sales, never drove past one, & never paid full price. Her passion for cooking was greatly appreciated by her family & she loved teaching the grandkids how to make some of her specialties. She treasured spending time up north at the lake with family. Her children & grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother Gerold.  Survived by husband Ronald, sons Scott (Jill) & Paul, grandchildren Ryan, Nick, Matthew, & Hannah and many relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Elrena will be held on March 24 from 4-7pm at The Rush Creek Golf Club 7801 Cty Rd 101, Maple Grove MN.
