Obituary of Geraldine Marie Klemz
Klemz, Geraldine M.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mom, Geraldine (Geri) Klemz, on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born on December 7, 1939, in St. Paul, Minnesota and lived in the greater St. Paul area her entire life. Our mom passed peacefully after a long and courageous struggle and is now in a better place with God, her parents, son, grandson and all those who went before her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Richard Klemz; sons, Keith Klemz (Dawn) and Kevin Klemz (Kerri) and daughter-in-law Lori Klemz; beloved grandchildren, Keith Klemz Jr. (Megan), Meghan Boggess (Tim), Alexander Dubra (Andrew), Andrew Klemz, Natalie Kelley (Patrick), Zachary Klemz and Bradley Klemz; precious great grandchildren, Mackenzie Klemz, Kennedy and Peyton Boggess, Bennet Dubra, and Eleanor Kelley.
Preceded in death by parents Joseph and Martha Haas, son Kurt Klemz and grandson Austin Klemz.
A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other incredible caregivers at United Hospital in St. Paul and The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale for the exceptional care and compassion given to both our parents during mom's final few weeks. To our dad, thank you for never leaving mom's side and being her primary caregiver and constant companion for more than 65 years, but especially during these difficult last 3 years. You and mom have taught your children and grandchildren the meaning of a strong marriage and true love. After retiring from a 20-year career with the St. Paul Pioneer Press in 2000, mom loved spending winters with dad in Maui and we want to thank the many life-long friends she and dad made from all over the country (and Canada!) during their winters in Hawaii.
We would also like to thank the many friends mom and dad made during the years they lived in Lino Lakes and more recently in Cottage Grove. The friendship and support shown to our parents during these last few difficult years means more to us and our dad than you will ever know. She was an incredible mom and grandma. She loved her extended family, including her many cherished nieces and nephews, and especially loved spending time with her grandkids and traveling the country with dad to visit friends and experience new places. You will be missed by many, but always remembered by those you touched.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:30 am with a funeral service immediately following at Bethel Lutheran Church, 670 W. Wheelock Parkway, St. Paul, MN 55117. A luncheon to celebrate mom's life will be served immediately after at the church.
In lieu of flowers, dad would appreciate a donation made in mom's name to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) to help fund a cure for this horrible disease.
