Obituary of Gerald Daniel Eder

Jerry Eder, age 85 of Inver Grove Heights, MN, peacefully passed away on Feb. 12, 2023, at home surrounded by his children and beloved wife of 63 years, Donna (LaMere) Eder.

Jerry was born on Nov. 4, 1937, to William and Dorothy Eder in Glidden, Wisconsin, where he attended school. In 1954, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served in Okinawa, Japan, as a ground radio operator. At an Air Force dance in Osceola, WI, Jerry approached Donna and said “Where have I seen you before?”, and this is where their story began. They married on Sept. 26, 1959, and had four children (Cheryl, Julie, John and Jolene). Jerry’s sales career had the family relocating to several locations until they finally made roots in Cottage Grove, MN, in 1969. Jerry excelled in the vacuum cleaner industry and fulfilled his dream by co-owning AAA All City Vacuum on Payne Avenue in St. Paul, MN for 34 years. Along with his store’s success, they were honored to receive the Payne Avenue Business of the Year Award in 2006. Jerry was especially proud of receiving his 20 year GA pin in 2023. Jerry loved fishing, playing cribbage and was an avid spectator of golf, college basketball and college football. Jerry could start a conversation with anyone as if they were his best friend; he had a great sense of humor and enjoyed having the last laugh.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy, and his sister, Bernadette.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Donna (LaMere) Eder; daughters Cheryl (Dan) Wegman, Julie (Dan) Frey and Jolene (John) Douvier; son John (Bob Just) Eder; six grandchildren, Mindy Arsenault, Nakina Grahn, Alicia Wohlers, Alec Frey, Tyler Douvier and Ariana Douvier; six great-grandchildren, Harley, Chance, Nova, Vienna, Livia and Syrus; sister, Cleta (Mike-deceased) O'Keefe; and many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service / Celebration of Life will be held on March 24, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, St. Paul Chapel, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119.
