Obituary of Richard Dale Erickson

Richard Erickson died peacefully on February 8th, 2023.

Richard is survived by his 2 daughters Krista (Laney) Erickson, and Karla (Jason) Hengtgen, 5 grandchildren Melissa, Kelsey (Jeff) Lunda, Katelyn Yuronich, Richard Yuronich, and Mitchell Cochran; and 2 great grandchildren Kendall and Tristan Cochran.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Lois Erickson, parents Oscar and Minnie Erickson, sister Shirley (Jim) Hovatter, and son Craig Richard Erickson.

Richard was born in Brainerd, MN on June 13th, 1931. He worked at a job he loved as an educator for over 30 years in the White Bear School District, with a passion for Special Education. He felt strongly that everyone deserved a chance to work and he fought hard to get his students jobs in the community. He started programs that are still implemented today. We are very proud of his commitment to his students.

More than anything Richard loved to spend time with his wife and family. They enjoyed many summer vacations together. Richard and Lois traveled often together, and loved spending their winters in Florida. Richard also enjoyed spending time playing cards and participating in a book club with friends.

Visitation and Memorial Service held Saturday, February 25th. Visitation 10:00-11:30 am. Funeral at 11:30 with lunch to follow at Hosanna Lutheran Church 9300 Scandia Tr N, Forest Lake, MN
