Robert Gordon Ranke “Bob”

1932-2023

Robert Gordon Ranke, age 90, of Champlin, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023, surrounded by family. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Carl, sister Marilyn, brother-in-law Don and granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dianne, former wife Janice, brother Jerry (Donna), children Linda (Pat), Scott (Rose), Christine (Barry), Mark (Sue), Julie (Greg), 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was born in Minneapolis and grew up in North Minneapolis. He attended North High School and studied accounting at the University of Minnesota. He had artistic talent for drawing, earned awards for penmanship and won an art scholarship to the Minneapolis Art Institute. Bob served as an accountant in the Air Force. He was employed at Pillsbury, AAA as an accountant, and Dahl and Curry as the CFO. Bob enjoyed bowling, weight lifting, playing cards, cribbage, solitaire, and family time at the cabin. Bob valued family above all else and found great joy spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 2:00 pm at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in New Hope, located at 3900 Winnetka Ave N, New Hope, MN 55427. There will be a luncheon following a remembrance.
