Obituary of Victoria L. Revering
Victoria L. Revering, also known as Vik or Vicki, passed away on January 2, 2023 at the age of 54, from complications related to the removal of a cancerous brain tumor in January of 2021. Vicki was born in February of 1968 in Moose Lake, MN and is survived by her partner, her mother, four sisters, her brother, her sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, eleven nieces and nephews and two great nieces.
Vicki began her career as a helper and working in medicine at a young age, from conducting autopsies on the chickens her mom was butchering to rescuing baby mice from the cold by bringing them inside to live. In her early medical career, she served people living with mental health issues, women seeking reproductive health care, and then worked in the Emergency Department of Hennepin County Medical Center for many years. Most recently, Vicki was a registered nurse at North Memorial Hospital, often working as Charge Nurse on overnight shifts, where she excelled at not only caring for her patients, but also at mentoring and training other nurses and hospital staff. Vicki loved spending time with friends and family, especially when there were young children around. She also loved rock climbing, bicycling, kayaking, camping and The Rolling Stones. Vicki was well known as one of the best gift buyers out there - thinking very thoughtfully about what the person she was buying for would love the most. She was also known for her love of hot and sour soup, for sweets, for having a vibrant personality as well as a sharp sense of humor and keen intelligence.
Vicki endured a number of health issues throughout her lifetime. She had remarkable coping skills, and was able to handle whatever was thrown at her with humor, grace and courage.
She was also a rabid democrat and feminist, never afraid to speak out when she saw injustice. She was incredibly stubborn, resilient and compassionate.
In a post written as she lay in the hospital shortly after her glioma diagnosis, Vicki shared a request that we know she would want spread around: Do nice things for each other and for strangers; donate to support refugees, support St. Jude's children's hospital, donate to food banks, temples and animal shelters. Make the world a better place.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will occur on Saturday, May 20, 2023, between 11:00am and 1:00pm CT, at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, MN, in the Theodore Wirth Pavilion (3275 Glenwood Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55405). The event is being planned for outside, which is where Vicki liked to be, but a facility is also available in case of inclement weather. Strong work, Vik, sleep sweet. You are loved and missed by many.
