Obituary of Katherine Jane Boyd

Katherine (Kitsy) Jane Boyd On the evening of January 23, 2023, after coping with Dementia, Kitsy went to be with the Lord. She was a faithful and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Kitsy was born in Trinidad, CO, 1941 to John Ball and Jamie Gardner. She had a younger brother John (Tanny) Ball. After graduating from El Paso (TX) High School in 1960, she met and married Doyle Wayne Watkins. They had four children: Kellen Wayne, Daphne Kay (Ludwick), Ginger Gail (Newbauer), and William Grant. After Doyle’s passing, she met Alton Boyd, and they married in 1991. Kitsy welcomed daughters Linda Boyd, Brenda Boyd Lacy, and son Clayton Boyd into her family. Kitsy worked for the El Paso Independent School District as a Senior Clerk in the Personnel Department for 28 years. Kitsy was passionate about her faith. A loyal member of Immanuel Baptist Church in El Paso and later Georgetown (KY) Baptist Church. She proudly served in the Women on Mission program, Friendship International, the Salt and Light program, the Ewalt Homemakers Club and the Fields Sunday School class. As a Mother Kitsy always made the holidays special from a box of chocolates on Valentine's Day, to white gloves and egg baskets on Easter, to gifts galore on Christmas. She insisted that everyone sit down at the table together for the meals she prepared, as an expression of love for each child in her family. Kitsy leaves behind many that loved and cherished her. Daughter-in-law Lee Ann Watkins, Sons-in-law Michael Ludwick, Robert Newbauer, Matt Halley. Grandchildren Eric Self (Sarah), Justin Watkins (Stephanie), Cole Watkins (Jessica), Preston Ludwick, Shane Newbauer (Andrea), Tori Newbauer, Zachary Newbauer, Travis Boyd, Dustin Smith (Jessie), Lindsey Lacy, Kaitlyn Rix (John).Great Grandchildren Jayce and Jordi Self, Caroline, Natalie and Alex Watkins, Elijah, Hayden, James and Lily Watkins, Kaija Newbauer, Moyette Palomino Boyd, Cody and Kennedy Smith. Also, many other extended family members and friends. The family wishes to send love, thanks and blessings to the caregivers at St. Benedicts Senior Community (Monticello, MN) for the kindness, care and comfort you offered Kitsy and Alton in their journeys home. “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31 A Celebration of Life for Kitsy will be held for family in the spring.
