Denise L. Roach-Walton
May 21, 1934 - January 21, 2023
We regretfully announce after a courageous battle with cancer, the passing of Denise L. Roach-Walton of Bloomington, MN on January 21, 2023. Denise passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Denise, AKA: Duckie, Mama, Ma, MeMaw, GrandmaD, Gigi, Great Grandma, and Auntie was a loving wife and dedicated mother to a family of six. Preceded in death by Parents Severino and Laura D'Ambrogio, brothers, Fred (Maxine), Richie (Katherine), and sister, Flora (Fernand) Klees. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Larry Walton, cherished children Kate (Steven) Peer, Mark (Katie) Roach, Cindy (Rick) Long, Lisa (Bill) Gossman, Jenifer (Chris) Kovacs, Michelle (Gary) Schimek-Johnson, stepdaughter Sherry Gilbert, 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Denise while raising her six children worked as a waitress at several fine dining restaurants in the Twin City Metropolitan area. At the age of fifty she decided to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. After graduating with a RN nursing degree, she worked at several hospitals in the Minneapolis area. Her dream came to fruition when she was hired at Hennepin County Medical Center as the managing RN in the Chemical Dependency Unit where she spent the rest of her career/vocation until retiring in 1999.
After retiring, Denise along with her husband Larry moved to a new home on Pelican Lake in Northern Minnesota. There, in her youth, she spent many summers at the original family cabin. In retirement she was able to focus on her many hobbies, gardening, cooking, shopping, and crafting. Denise loved being at the lake and always looked forward to boating, cookouts, relaxing on the beach, and most of all spending quality time with her family and friends.
