Obituary of Edwin Frank Koepp

Edwin Frank Koepp, resident of Plymouth Minnesota passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2023 at 85 years of age.  Ed was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Edwin G. and Sara Koepp.  He was the youngest of three children and is preceded in death by his much-loved sister Sallie and brother George.  

As a boy and young man, Ed excelled academically and in sports.  He competed in golf and basketball, for Juneau H.S., and then for UW-Milwaukee.  He was recognized by teammates and opponents as a strong competitor and for his exemplary sportsmanship.

Ed obtained his master's degree at UW-Milwaukee and then completed a post-master's program at the University of Pittsburgh.  He went on to manage mental health centers in Kittanning Pennsylvania, Austin Minnesota, and Brookings South Dakota before moving to Plymouth Minnesota.

During his entire adult life, Ed enjoyed golf and won or placed in countless tournaments.  By some, he was known as "Straight Ahead Ed".

In his later years, Ed became a certified golf professional.  He saw parallels between golf and life.  His lessons included teaching that in both golf and life, we are not perfect, and sometimes it's ok to take a mulligan, and the main thing is to enjoy the process.

Ed also had a lifelong interest in education and reading.  Through his involvement with Rotary International, he led an international book project which resulted in sending tens of thousands of textbooks to schools in South Africa.

Ed's love for his sons and grandchildren was unconditional and limitless.  He was so proud of all of them, and he told them so.  He will be greatly missed by friends and family, all of whom are fortunate to have known him.

Ed is survived by his sons Eric (Laura) and Scott, as well as by his grandchildren Stephen, Anne (Aaron), and Charles.

A celebration of his life will be held on 3/12/2023 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Av. S., Edina, MN, 55435.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 am.  The service will begin at noon, and refreshments will follow.  We really hope you can attend this celebration of Ed's life.
