Such a great man and mentor. Dr. Propson was instrumental in my engineering endeavors and a fantastic leader and friend. Tom and his wife were family to me while attending SDSM&T. He was a fantastic professor and Department head and truly made a major difference in so many lives he touched. God bless you Mr. Propson!

Janet and family: There are so many memories involving TP during my time at SDSMT that I'd never be able to do it here, in this little space! He made a challenging education fun, and always pushed you farther than you ever imagined possible. His greatest gift to me, was seeing something in me, that I didn't believe, and couldn't see myself. This is a lesson that I try to pass on, and I encourage others to do as well. I had the pleasure to speak with him in 2015 after I received my Ph.D to personally thank him for the courage he instilled in me years before; to do the hard things! From the annual Propson house party for CE seniors, to the Friday "hydraulics lab" at the local pub, to cardigan Thursdays....he is Legend! I trust that you all find comfort in his memory, as I do. Tom was an exceptional person who excelled as a faculty member and as an advisor/friend to SDSMT students. As his Dept Head for 6 years I came to know Tom well and trusted his advice on all academic matters, and served as the basis for our long-term friendship. Nancy and I have very fond memories of Tom (and Janet), for example, (1) their wonderful participation at our annual Christmas party, at our log cabin in Woodland Hills and (2) their presence as legal witnesses to our marriage in December 1991 at Rapid City Court Building.
