Obituary of Janet Higgins

Janet L (Westby, Wehland) Higgins age 83, of Apple Valley MN, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023 surrounded by her family..
Janet left her clerical position at the Richfield School District Media Center to move to Lake Mille Lacs (God’s country we were told). Janet then worked many years with the Aitkin County Family Services in a clerical position, retiring in 1999. She then moved back to the cities to be closer to family, and found a wonderful part time receptionist position with St Thomas Becket Catholic
Church. She retired from the church to nanny her first great-grandchild. Her final move was back to Apple Valley to spend time with her daughter and found wonderful friends at Cobblestone Courts senior apartments.
Janet was a wonderful friend to all and will be dearly missed.

Janet is preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Helen Westby; husband,William Higgins;
brother, Gary Westby; Sisters in law, Cindy Westby, Sandy Westby; and son, Mark Wehland.

She is survived by daughter, Patty (David) Buerman; brother Ron Westby; grandchildren, Sara
(Patrick) Carder; Mitch (Amanda) Wehland; Jessi (John) Krueger; great grandchildren, Kylie,
Cora and Everly, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to cousin Cathy and the Olive Grove Hospice Services. Service will be held
at St Thomas Becket Catholic Church, Eagan MN on January 21, 2023 at 11 am with visitation
one hour prior. Lunch to follow. Private burial will be at Fort Snelling in the spring.
