Andrew Adams posted a condolence
Tuesday, March 26, 2024
My name is Andrew Adams I was born and raised in Minnesota Lake Mn my fathers name is Virgil Zuehlke him and Kenny were in the military together. Kenny would come see us when we were younger and spend a few days with us. He always had a smile on his face, I admire him most because he saluted my father every time they seen each other. With my deepest sympathy, may he rest in piece.

I lived in Ken’s neighborhood on 7th Avenue East from ages 5-10. We learned to ride bikes together and as was the custom back then, our parents let us be free-range kids. Over those years we explored the roads, creeks, stores, landmarks, and even the block-long tunnels under the streets of the Central Hillside. We played under-the-streetlight games with the Hartmarks, Lanes, DeRosiers/Forborts, Dents and many others. We walked home for lunch from school back then, and because we had stopped off before lunch at a local creek and lost track of time, we were very late getting back to school on Nov. 22, 1963. We heard the first TV news bulletin of Kennedy’s assassination just as we were leaving home and Ken and I ran the five blocks up to Grant School telling everyone along the way.
The only picture I have of Ken is when he was at my 10th birthday party (he wore a suit!) We lost touch after I moved away. I had hoped to reconnect with him when I returned to Duluth this coming summer. Unfortunately and sadly, I’ll never have the chance to relive these memories with him. So please, reconnect with your long-lost friends, share your memories, and see their smiles again.
