Obituary of Carl Alex Oldani
Carl Alex Oldani passed away peacefully from Alzheimer’s in his Blaine, Minnesota home on December 21, 2022 while surrounded by family. He was 69 years old.
Carl was born on February 19, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan. His relationship with his parents Mark Joseph Oldani and Gail Louise Oldani née Lunner was one of deep respect and admiration.
Carl’s exceptional wit and creativity were amplified by his profound kindness and devotion to helping others. As a young boy he organized a rescue party to save a fellow Scout who fell through the ice on a frozen lake. After a prolific engineering career, Carl brought warmth and laughter to his family as a stay-at-home dad and master chef. His devastatingly delicious desserts are the legacy of a poetic, passionate spirit. Carl built furniture, businesses, social organizations, and sports teams. He loved to tell stories about his family’s many achievements, but his greatest pride was in his children’s strength of character and conscious view of humanity. Carl and his wife Carolyn’s union was imbued with uncommon bliss and the most powerful force…Love. Carl’s family and friends are deeply grateful for his many gifts.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Gail Oldani, and his sister Gail Elaine McKinley.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Oldani; his daughter Cesarina Schmidt, her husband Jeff Schmidt and their daughters Halina and Kathlyn; daughter Sharon Oldani and her husband Brandon Blowers; son Mark Oldani and his partner Chris Norton; sister Karen Oldani; brother Mark Oldani, his wife Sarah Morgan; nieces and nephews: Shana, Melissa, Ryan, Krista, Joseph, Blake, Tom, Jenny, Annie, Tammy, Amber, Hillary, Victoria, and Taylor.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date. Carl’s final resting place will be the Lunch Rock at Beckwith Pass in the Colorado Rockies, elevation 10,000 ft., a place that embodies the peace and adventure that Carl and Carolyn found in life.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: http://act.alz.org/goto/Oldani or https://act.alz.org/site/Donation.
