Obituary of Sandi Cartwright
Sandi Cartwright June 30, 1952 – December 14, 2022 Sandra Kay Cartwright, age 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Sandi was born on June 30, 1952 in Marshall, MN to Sievert and Martha Ims. She grew up as the youngest of 9 children on a farm in Echo, MN. She attended Echo High School and enjoyed participating as a cheerleader. Sandi graduated from high school in 1970. She subsequently attended the University of Minnesota Morris where she performed on the Cougarette danceline team at halftime basketball games. It was during a dance class that she met the love of her life, Steve Cartwright. They married on June 3, 1972 and celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Sandi devoted her life to her family and always put their needs before herself. Sandi’s kindness, caring and generosity were also experienced by all who came in contact with her. She loved working in the yard, exercising, reading, baking and cooking meals for her family. Sandi enjoyed playing cards, games, and taking trips to Mesquite, Nevada. It brought her great joy to watch her kids and grandkids pursue their passions. Sandi’s husband, Steve, was always by her side and never missed an event. Survivors include her loving husband, Steve; children, Sarah Levesque of Bemidji, Michael (Becca) Cartwright of Princeton, and Jennifer (Jeff) Achen of Lakeville; her grandchildren, Eva and Kira Levesque, Madelyn and Taylor Cartwright, Kaitlyn, Avery and Noah Achen. Her siblings; Gloria Rust, Mary Hamre and many nieces and nephews. Sandi is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Paul Ims, Anita Nelson, Marilyn Rust, Sonja Rust, Margaret Selfridge and Hilton Ims. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Princeton on Monday, December 19th at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to benefit the American Cancer Society in honor of Sandi’s memory.
