Robert Deverell

Obituary of Robert Edmund Deverell

Deverell, Robert E., age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 2, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  Born in Hayward, WI, Robert and his wife Judy lived and raised their family in Maplewood and North St. Paul.

Preceded in death by parents, Harry and Juanita Deverell, brother Lloyd, and sister Beverley Shiroda.

Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Judy; children, Jill (Matt) Williams, Jay (Lisa); grandchildren, Diane, Sara (Aaron), Kelsey, and Tommy; brother Hugh (Janice); nieces, nephews, in-laws, Dennis (Jane) Asbach.

Robert served in the Air Force, was a graduate of Northland College, and was a wealth of knowledge on many topics which he enjoyed sharing through his stories.  He worked at North Central Life Insurance for over 25 years before he became one of the owners and operators of Interstate Reporting Company (IRC).

Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many activities as well as other outdoor activities including walking, hiking, cross country skiing, and hunting.  He was an owner of multiple classic cars and an active volunteer for the MRSA Back to the 50’s event.  He also enjoyed home remodeling projects, adding a family room to their first house and with the help of family and friends a complete remodel and walk out level addition for the family cabin in Turtle Lake, WI.  Many summer weekends were spent enjoying the cabin and lake.

We are thankful for the wonderful care Robert received at Cerenity Care Humboldt and the staff at Intrepid Hospice.

A visitation to celebrate Robert’s life will be held at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119 on Wednesday December 21, 2022, from 11 – 1:30pm, followed by a memorial service.  A private, family interment will be held at a later date in Ashland, WI.
