Obituary of Lillian Dorothy Piper

Lillian "Lill" Dorothy Piper of NE Minneapolis, died peacefully at home with family on December 6, 2021 at the age of 92 years.

Lill and her siblings grew up in their parents' restaurant business in both Crystal and Rockford, MN.  When she was 11, she helped her neighbors by slicing meats and cheeses at their deli and picking raspberries for 2 cents/pint.  As a high school student, Lill supported her parent's restaurant, the Rockford Inn.  Lill was a proud alumni of Robbinsdale High School and served as an honorary cheerleader, energetically singing the Robbinsdale cheer for many occasions, including victories for the Minnesota Vikings!   She enjoyed working in accounting at Stephens Buick for many years where she made lifelong friends.  She used her earnings toward three goals that she had set for herself prior to marriage:  money in the bank, a car and a fur coat.  Lill and Jerry were committed to their decision for Lill to be a stay at home mother during their kids' school years.  She enjoyed her roles as a wife and mother and loved keeping the home "in order" with her strong work ethic.

When their youngest child was in high school, she returned to part-time work at Bank's in Northeast Minneapolis for 15 years.  Lill and Jerry enjoyed many years of dancing together, beginning when they met at the Prom Ballroom in 1953 and for several decades thereafter in the Zuhrah Masquers.  When Jerry was faced with clinical challenges, Lill was by his side enabling him to remain in their home during his hospice experience.  In her words, Lill preferred living "a regular life" and was never interested in impressing others.  With her positive attitude, Lill always looked forward to starting a new day after a good night's sleep, especially enjoying sunny days, and never looking back.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Gerald "Jerry", Parents, Joseph and Rose, Siblings, Rosalyn, Joseph "Bud" (Mayves) and Rosemary; Son Bob.

Survived by Daughters, Mary (Mark) and Jean (Richard), Grandchildren, Gabrielle and Merin;, as well as many Nieces, Nephews, Family and friends.
