Obituary of Claudia J. Johnson
Claudia J. Johnson, age 76, of Duluth, Minnesota passed away on November 19, 2022, at Elysian Senior Homes surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 25, 1945, to Robert and Virginia Anderson in Duluth, MN.
She was a 1963 graduate of Denfeld High School. She worked at the Vista Queen for a short time and later did the books for Danny’s excavating business. In the early nineties, she and Dan bought Pike Lake Video, which they owned for many years. She was also on the Canosia Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. One of her passions was decorating for the holidays and she loved to hand out candy on Halloween. She had a great group of friends who liked to travel together and meet every Wednesday and go to lunch or just meet at her house. Almost every week she and her sister Kathy would get together to play cards. She was an avid bowler at Skyline Lanes for many years bowling in the morning leagues as well as the night leagues. Claudia was a very generous person willing to help out where she could. She loved to bake and host family dinners. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was always supporting her grandchildren in their sporting events, their number one fan.
She married Danny Johnson on August 20, 1966, in Duluth and celebrated forty-six years of marriage until Dan succumbed to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2012.
Claudia is survived by her children Scott (Lori) Johnson, Debra (Tyler) Walsh, Danise (Tom) Hanson; mother-in-law, Emily Flewell; sister Kathy Gould; and brother Duayne (Barb) Anderson; sister-in-law Jean Anderson; brothers-in-law, Jerry Johnson, Jeff (Cindy) Meckola, Steven (Jennifer) Meckola; grandchildren, Gavin and Hannah Johnson, Keegan Walsh, Samantha Hanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Dan, brother Larry, sister Roberta (Bobbie), and grandson, Gibson.
We would like to thank the staff at Elysian Senior Homes of Duluth and Kindred Hospice for the great care Claudia received.
