Obituary of James Marshall Brown
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in pretty good shape but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming “WOW, What a ride” – Hunter S. Thompson
There are not enough words in any thesaurus to describe the character that was James Marshall Brown. A few days shy of his 88th birthday on November 7th, 2022, in Woodbury, MN. JMB passed in the embrace of his family whispering words of love, assurance, forgiveness, and release. Born in Waterbury CT, to Frank and Esther Brown, he graduated from the College of William and Mary, joined the service where he earned distinction as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. Entered civilian life using his skills to build a successful career in the food industry. James Brown lived life fully; his personality filled each room he entered with his signature “I feel good”. Survived by his wife Helen, son Peter, daughters Heidi and Allyson Fanger, grandchildren Andrew Bucquoy-Brown, Julia Cluff, Ella Fanger, Tallulah Fanger and Maxine Fanger and great grandchildren Mila and Jaxon Cluff; the family will carry his memory in our hearts. We believe during his journey he had an impact on many lives of those he met on the road of life. Though his time on earth has come to an end, he will live on through the accomplishments of his grandchildren and their offspring. A private family Memorial Service will be held Fort Snelling on November 25th and in JMB style an open house celebration of life will take place on November 26th at the Pub Room at Legends of Woodbury, 570 Settlers Ridge, Woodbury, MN 55129 from 5 – 10pm
