Obituary of Mark Sanford Anderson
Mark S. Anderson of Minnetonka, age 79, died peacefully on Saturday, November 5th in hospice.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Anderson, and Dorothy (Stan) Haight; beloved in-laws, Margaret and Al Jacobson, Mimi and Tony Johnson.
Mark was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lynn; their daughter, Jamie (Matt) Schafer; and granddaughter, Emmylou; daughters, Dorothy (Doug) Huber, Marti (Paul) Stellwagen; his son, Tim Anderson; grandchildren, David, Kendall, and Ava; grand-dogs, Rueben and Champ; sisters, Roni and Lynda; and brother, Bill; sister in-law’s, Lee and Carol; and niece, Natalie, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mark was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on July 22nd, 1943. A legendary salesman for over 20 years, he used his gift of humor to open many doors. He had a great love for Minnesota sports, the great outdoors and a rare steak. He was an avid fisherman, and loved to spend time on lake Minnetonka and lake of the woods; his favorite place to be was on his boat. Mark also had a natural love for adventure, he obtained his pilot’s license in his 30’s, raced cars and worked as a mechanic in Daytona, often flying his airplane back and forth between Minnesota, Florida, and North Carolina. Most notably, Mark is known for his joyful sense of humor, and was always telling jokes. He loved to make people laugh. He had an infectious, positive outlook on life and looked at every challenge as an opportunity to overcome. His heart was completely full with love for his family.
Mark’s service will be held on Friday, November 18th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, with service at 11 AM (visitation 10 AM-11 AM), located at 7110 France Avenue S., Edina, MN 55435.
We will have a celebration of life afterwards at noon at VFW Post 5555, 6715 Lake Shore Drive, Richfield, MN 55423.
