Obituary of Gregory F Marczak

Marczak, Gregory lost his five-year battle with cancer on September 15, 2022. His loving wife of 29 years, Lauri, was at his side.

Greg was born in Duluth, MN August 2, 1950, to Frank and Lois Marczak. A graduate of Denfeld High School he went on to serve in the US Navy including time on the USS Enterprise. He worked and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad, where he obtained his nickname “Ziggy.”

He loved his daughter Trisha and followed her accomplishments with immense pride. He enjoyed Breakfast Club with childhood friends, fishing, traveling to Alaska and to warm climates. He was an avid golfer and found joy in also reading about and watching golf. He was a great person, funny, witty, and caring. His family encourages everyone to obtain colon cancer screening.

Greg (“Ziggy”) is survived by his wife Lauri; his daughter Trisha (Nick) Taurinskas, grandchildren Alice, Gino, and June Taurinskas; stepdaughter Tiffany and her son Damon. He is also survived by his sister Sharon (Dennis) Anderson , nieces Heidi Anderson, Kara (Daniel) Deschamps and great niece Taylor Deschamps.

A celebration of life with Honor Guard for his service in the Navy will be scheduled.
