Obituary of Andrea Lucille Bignold

Andrea Lucille Bignold, née Andrea Lucille Myklebust, was born on June 7, 1956, in Edina, MN, and passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, in her home while resting, in White Bear Lake Township, MN. Andrea was 66 years old at the time of her passing, seemingly much to soon given her health and her insatiable zest for life.

Andrea was incredibly loved and has left a deep longing with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She is survived by her son, Jesse David Carroll, his wife Laura and their children, her grandchildren, Alexander, Emmaline, and Miriam. Her daughter Nicole Ann Becker, her husband Gareth, and their daughter, her granddaughter, Hazel. Her son Matthew Johnson Carroll, his wife Aracely, and their daughter, her granddaughter, Ariel. She is also survived by her extended family of cousins who were like siblings to her growing up and her many dearly loved friends, who were her chosen family.

Andrea’s life was one of fun and adventure. She traveled often, lived abroad, and experienced many loving relationships throughout her life. She was an incredible woman whose presence lingered with you. She surrounded herself with lifelong friendships, always maintaining a busy social calendar, prioritizing time with her children and grandchildren for holidays and family trips, and staying active in work. She had recently been on a family vacation on the North Shore with her children and grandchildren, again visited the North Shore with her cousin to experience the fall colors changing, and had planned an adventure to visit one of her best friends in Mexico at the beginning of the year.

Andrea loved her children fiercely and would do anything to protect and support them. She never judged the decisions they made in life, rather was a listener and offered understanding and acceptance of their choices, loved them unconditionally, and just wanted her children to be content and happy in their lives. She had, in the last decade, moved back to Minnesota after spending time in

California and Mexico for many years, to spend more time with her children and grandchildren when they began having their own families, and to reconnect with old friends, and to continue to make new friends along the way. Her children, her family, and her friends where more important to her than anything, and she spent every waking moment with them, never wasting a minute of the time she did have.

Andrea loved her friends fiercely and would do anything to support them. Even if they had disagreements, as friends do, she never judged yet accepted and loved them unconditionally. She had a spirit that could not be tamed, that longed to live life exactly as she desired to be happy. She understood that time was precious and finite for her, as it is for everyone, and weighed the responsibilities of life and the relationships she held dear in balance to the experiences that brought her joy. She passed away at home, after an enjoyable night with friends the evening before, upcoming plans with her children and grandchildren that day, and a fun event the following day with her close friends. Her calendar, as her life, was filled with love and energy, as are our memories and our hearts, of the life of this extraordinary woman who is already greatly missed.

Please join Andrea’s children, grandchildren, family, and friends, for a celebration of her life. The memorial service will be held at The University Club in St. Paul in The Summit and The Terrace room from 1pm-4pm on Wednesday, November 2nd. This will be an informal gathering with light appetizers and many memories. Please feel free to come anytime, stay for a little or a long while, and reminisce and share your favorite memories and stories of Andrea either amongst each other or with the group. Afterwards, very fittingly for a celebration of Andrea, we will be venturing to her most recent favorite place for happy hour to enjoy a drink and toast to this incredible woman who lived an incredible life. We will be at Lucy’s in White Bear Lake immediately following the celebration at The University Club, until the time seems appropriate to say our final farewells and cheers. Thank you for sharing in her journey, we look forward to spending this time in her memory.
