Obituary of Susan Mary Peterson

Susan Mary Peterson, age 74, of Hanover, passed away peacefully September 6, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born in St. Cloud and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1965. She graduated from college in 1971 with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and as a Registered Nurse, spent most of her career in long-term care; becoming a certified Hospice and Palliative Care RN and earning her BSN from Metropolitan State University.  Sue had a passion to implement and coordinate hospice and palliative care programming within her organization and was dedicated to the patients she cared for. Sue was a single mom who raised her children in love and taught them independence and grace. She loved gardening and cooking, antiquing with her sisters, and especially loved to travel and camp with her family and friends. She spent the last several years on the road seeing the country with her long-time companion Bruce Shoemaker.  Sue is preceded in death by parents Bernard and Marvel Peterson, sisters Patricia Peterson Werre and Jill Connors. She is survived by her sisters Nancy (Rick) Christianson, Jane (Tim) Torzewski, her children Matt (Shauna) and Katie (Mike), her FAVORITE grandchildren JJ and Emma, many nieces and nephews and her companion Bruce.  Sue was our cornerstone and she will be loved and deeply missed beyond words.
