Obituary of Gerald Patrick Kloven
Kloven, Gerald Patrick (Pat) 90, of New Brighton, passed away September 6, 2022 while living at St Anthony Park Home in St. Paul. Born on St Patrick’s Day 1932, to Howard and Katherine (Cotton) Kloven in Mobridge, SD. Pat lived with his grandfather in Rutland, ND before moving to Minneapolis at the age of 6. As a teeenager he moved to Boys Town, Nebraska. He was proud of the training he received and his graduation from there in 1949. Called up during the Korean conflict he served stateside at Fort Meade, Maryland. Following the war he graduated with a double E Degree from Iowa State University. Pat worked for Procter Gamble, Magnivox, 3M, and Ramsey Engineering before forming his own company Tecnetics Industries, New Brighton, MN in 1979. He was fascinated by complex mechanical and electrical problems and finding their solutions. He retired in 1988 following the sale of his company. His interests turned to volunteering at Courage Center in their mechanical shop, and he took up woodworking, tennis, sailing, golf, and travel. He enjoyed his blended family and activities with the grandkids, and socializing with friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Susanna; his daughters Patti Jo (Robert) Glumack and Cheryl Lynn; stepsons Jeffrey (Melanie) and Rex (Maggie) Taylor; grandchildren Kristen (Clayton) Moore, Nicholas (Harriet ) Glumack, Coco, Henry, and Marlee, and Marlee’s sister Rebecca, and two great grandchildren known as “the Little Guys”, Genesis and Howard. Pat has a surviving brother-in-law Bill Paterson and numerous nieces and nephews who called him “Uncle Pat”. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and administrators at St Anthony Park Home, and to Health Partners Hospice Team 7 for all their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Boys Town, Education Programs, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010. A gathering of friends and family will be October 10, 2022, 1:00 pm, at Silverwood Park Great Hall, 2500 Country E, St Anthony, MN 55421.
