Obituary of Carol Augustine Bacon
Carol A. (Halladay) Bacon, age 81, of Eden Valley, passed away peacefully July 3rd, 2022, in the Paynesville Koronis Manor Care Center from complications of emphysema. She was accompanied by family and received the grace of prayers from family, Father Glenn, and Father Aaron in her last hours. She was lovingly nicknamed “Cookie” and “Grandma Kitty”.
Carol was born in Minneapolis, graduated from Washburn High School, and attended 2 years of higher education at the University of St. Catherine. She married Dennis Mitzel on December 29th, 1962, and was blessed with two children, Patrick and Kimberly (Molly). Carol remarried two times: in 1989 to Charlie Fisher and in 2001 to Jim Bacon. Carol worked mixing paint and volunteered for Paynesville Public Library, the Food Shelf Garden, and the Christian Mothers.
Her family greatly appreciated Carol Bacon in her role as a Homemaker. She enjoyed family vacations, discussions about news and current events, listening to the news, baking, playing games, biking, hiking, flower gardening, cats, praying, and reading mysteries. Carol took great joy in the well-being and success of her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as having a loving heart and nurturing soul to many.
Carol is survived by her children, Patrick (Susan) Mitzel, and Kimberly (Randy) Zimmerman; seven grandchildren; brothers Henry and Howard Halladay.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Henry Halladay; siblings Harry, Candy, and Harrold Halladay; and husband Jim Bacon.
Visitation Tuesday, July 26th, at 9:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, Eden Valley, Mn. The funeral is at 11:00, with burial and luncheon to follow. Flowers can be sent to the church and memorial donations in honor of Carol can be made to Assumption Catholic Church for Adoration Chapel improvements or the Eden Valley Veterinary Clinic to care for abandoned animals.
