Obituary of Walter Anthony Selby
Walter Anthony Selby, age 97, of St. Paul, Mn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10,2022, at home in Hugo surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Alberta Peach and his children Mark (Mary), Annette Norlander (Kevin) and Pam Biljan (Phil) and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his grandchildren Andrew Satnik (Crystal), Aron Satnik (Alyssa), Kathryn Biljan, Amy Bachman (Blair), Mark Selby (Tina) and great grandchildren Olivia, Ava, Mackenzie, August, Penelope, Anthony, Archer and Magnolia. He was very proud of his military service, as a Gunner’s Mate in the Navy, serving in WWII and the Korean War. Wally was a foreman for residential gas line installations for Northern States Power (Xcel Energy) for 34 years, retiring in 1982. At that time he took up woodworking and spending time at the cabin with the family. He was an avid bowler until the age of 92 and enjoyed an occasional round of golf. Wally was a very competitive card player, mostly 500 and cribbage. He liked nothing better than to make a 9 spades bid with nothing in his hand. A gathering and Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 17,2022 from 1-4pm at the Cremation Society in St Paul, Mn at 1979 Old Hudson Rd., St Paul, Mn 55119 A private burial will take place at a future date. The family would prefer a donation to Sharing and Caring Hands, 525 N. 7th St, Mpls, Mn 55405 in lieu of memorials.
